I have always been one to appreciate something free but
lately Its been quite overbearing.

Everywhere I turn is another Giveaway this and Giveaway
that.

Oh My gosh! Give it a rest will yah?

I remember the good old days when a Giveaway was an event to
look forward to. came out with an event that
made a lot of happy for the Christmas season. We
got that would be very useful and would help our
during the New Year.

But now fast forward to 2009. Its like everywhere you turn
there is another “event” happening. Sometimes 3 or 4 in one
week. The sad thing is the “gifts” are mostly the same in
all of them. About 90% of the products in these
are essentially the same things. Why? Because its mostly the
same set of people that are signing up as contributors for
each event.

Of course the reason is simple. Giveaways are considered to
be a tool. They say the Giveaway helps you
build your list. Hmmm. I don’t know about that. Maybe it
does. But with what kind of ? Are they just
mostly “freebie seekers who are up to grabbing every single
item from each event? Or are they people that are targeted
enough to become valuable subscribers who will later become
buyers?

Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that the Giveaway
itself is a bad thing. Its just that its a bit monotonous
and overdone. Like how it was when i used to use traffic
exchanges for my traffic back in 2003 to 2005. I no longer
have the desire to use . That don’t make
them bad. It just means I have matured as a and no
longer use those methods that i did when i was starting out.

The Giveaway in my opinion should be something that comes
along once in a while. And the “gifts” should at least be 75
to 80% unique in each of them. Then a “Giveaway” would be an
event to look forward to and not a regular like
going to the bathroom.

Personally for me I wont use a Giveaway to build my list. I
don’t think the effort is worth it to gain a few subscribers
who will remove themselves from the mailing list as soon as
they download the “gift”.

That’s just my 2 cents.
